Mother of All Clean Ups

The annual litter collection event ‘Mother of All Clean Ups’ is back for 2024! Some 60 community groups are expected to join again this Saturday to spend two hours between 10am and Midday to collect carelessly discarded rubbish from in and around our waterways.

To take part in this huge waterway edge clean up event, meet just before 10am in front of the New Brighton Library where you will be given gloves and a bag and a way to go! Find more information here.

The Palms Mother’s Day Market

Come along to The Palms Shopping Centre from 9am – 6pm Saturday for a special Mother’s Day Market Day to celebrate all the mums, caregivers and mother figures out there.

There will be a live kids show with special princess and prince guests and face painting. The first 50 shoppers who spend $20 or over will receive a free goodie bag, and anyone that spends $50 or over goes in the draw to win 1 of 5 larger Mother’s Day packs! More information here.

Mother’s Day at Riverside Market

Celebrate the mum in your life this Mother’s Day at Riverside Market. Come along for a wide range of delicious food, drink and shopping to the tune of Riverside Market’s Spanish guitarist while you dive into an afternoon in the market together and all that’s on offer.

The market will be open from 10am – 5pm, more information here.

Ice Hockey – Canterbury Red Devils Exhibition Game

Catch the Canterbury Red Devils Exhibition game on Saturday as they prepare for the NZIHL 2024 season. Get a sneak peak featuring members of the wider Red Devils training squad and other players with an action packed afternoon of Live Ice Hockey brought to you by Alpine Ice and the Canterbury Red Devils.

The game will be on from 4.15 – 7pm Saturday at Alpine Ice. Please note tickets cost $10 and must be bought at the door.

Drawing Connections exhibition

Looking to escape the cold and head indoors for a while? Wander through the Drawing Connections exhibition at Tūranga, Christchurch’s central city library. The exhibition displays a variety of original architectural drawings from Cecil Wood, the architect who designed some of Christchurch’s most iconic buildings.

The exhibition is on display at Te Pito Huarewa / Southbase Gallery located on Tuakiri | Identity, Level 2, more here.
