In the coming weeks we’ll be doing some general maintenance on site and work to protect heritage.
We’ll be temporarily covering an area of exposed masonry rubble at the west end to avoid further deterioration while awaiting future work.
We’ll apply a layer of lime slurry over area that sits between the internal and external walls, to stop moisture entering. It will look and behave like plaster. It is applied wet and when it hardens it provides protection from the elements over winter.
We’ll also be reinstating a protective wooden cover over one of the stained glass windows on the west wall (the side that faces Cathedral Square).
We’ll be resealing sections of the concrete foundation that supports the hoardings beside the road in some places.
There will be general tidying up around the grounds.
Traffic access will be maintained at all times, however, traffic may be limited to one lane for short periods. Traffic signage will be in place to direct motorists and pedestrians.
All work is subject to favourable weather and on-site conditions.
