Public submissions are open on Council’s initial proposal for councillor representation areas for Canterbury Regional Council (Environment Canterbury). 

Council’s initial proposal combines the Ashburton District area with the current South Canterbury/Ōtuhituhi constituency, to form a larger Mid-South Canterbury/Ōtuhituhi constituency, and leaving Selwyn/Waikirikiri as its own constituency.

The proposal also includes minor realignment of Christchurch city constituency boundaries to match the wards of Christchurch City Council.
