Recognising Young New Zealanders who are changing the future, today
In a world facing complex challenges, the University of Canterbury is proud to support an award that empowers young leaders to thrive, succeed and make a positive difference.

The University of Canterbury believes young people play a vital role in the future of Aotearoa New Zealand and they are here now, growing as individuals and already affecting change across the globe.
Nominations are now open for the Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year Awards, including the University of Canterbury Young New Zealander of the Year Award. This award recognises a young person brimming with the potential to build a bright future for Aotearoa, striving to improve or support their whole community and Tai Ao.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Cheryl de la Rey says the University of Canterbury is committed to empowering Young New Zealanders across Aotearoa to make a difference. “Especially now, as the world continues to face complex challenges connected to the pandemic, climate change and wellbeing. UC is pleased to celebrate these young leaders and support their success as they make a positive impact in their communities.”
It’s time to celebrate the Young New Zealanders who have made an impact within the past year.
