Get ready to tackle a big weekend of sport, music, sustainability and Matariki.
Crusaders versus Highlanders
Southern – and national – sporting supremacy is on the line on Sunday afternoon when the Crusaders host the Highlanders at Orangetheory Stadium in their Super Rugby Aotearoa clash.
The Crusaders hold a seven-point lead on the competition ladder, and a win over the Highlanders will seal the national title for the local champions. Tickets for the game have sold out so expect the city to be pumping this weekend with supporters of both teams.
Rehua Marae Matariki Whanau Day
Head to Rehua Marae on Saturday for a special Matariki Whanau Day from 11am.
Celebrate Matariki as you enjoy kapa haka performers, and check out the food stalls, hāngi, arts and crafts, and workshops.

Go Green Expo
New Zealand’s largest green living and sustainable lifestyle show – the Go Green Expo – will fill Horncastle Arena this weekend from 10am to 5pm.
Eco building, healthy food and organic products for homes, gardens and personal use, along with health and wellness will feature in the sustainable showcase. Get tickets online or at the door.
Post hoc @ Art Gallery
Fake trees popping up around the city have marked the arrival of a new Dane Mitchell exhibition, titled Post hoc, following a stint centre stage at the Venice Biennale.
Post hoc captures the endless demand for growth and progress, revealing loss and extinction.
The free exhibition focuses on those thousands of lost entities – such as burnt books and extinct languages – listed within a chamber prior to transmission to stealth cell towers disguised as trees.
The Butlers @ Isaac Theatre Royal
Sumner stars The Butlers bring their indie rock and smooth sounds to the Isaac Theatre Royal stage on Saturday night.
Book online for the 7.30pm show.
