I am sorry for the lack of content that I have been posting on this blog for the past 12 months.
The reasons for this are a number of things. Firstly I left the real estate and housing industry full time and only kept this blog website up for the pure passion I have for Real Estate and healthy homes and the sustainable way our lives can integrate into both of these. The other reason is the Christchurch Earthquakes.
As a person who lives in Christchurch I have experienced almost all of the earthquakes here. After the September earthquake I set up the website rebuildchristchurch.co.nz and this was to start with a personal reflection of the images I captured and some of the stories.
From here the emails and comments started coming in, and in there early days people were confused about the amount of information and where they needed to go to get it. So I took it upon myself to start putting most of the important information updates on the site. This was well received and the traffic to the site grew. After a few months the activity died down and I went on the only holiday I have been on in years. I came back late January and Christchurch was just starting to get ready to rebuild its infrastructure. It was 5 months on. The morning of the February 22nd and the rebuild was commissioned. Then the big quake happened that changed our lives and the city forever.
The site really took a huge role and there were thousands of visitors per day coming to the site. Now since the release of the new site it has grown to tens of thousands a day and a huge need to continue offering the service.
The site is linking the communities and the business sector to the people who make the decisions. It also is now the biggest and most popular website that offers information relating to the Christchurch Earthquake and the looming rebuild of our city. I have put a lot of time into rebuildchristchurch.co.nz and I will continue to. Recently I was made redundant and I have decided to not look for work as this site has a lot more important issues that need to be addressed. So am now working full time as a volunteer to the site.
I hope to soon one day as things start to quieten down, maybe….. to start posting some things up here. But if you have got to this post and this point please visit the site and support me in what I am doing with it. This will not work without the support of the public and you.
