Celebrate and protect our waterways

World Rivers Day is celebrated worldwide on the fourth Sunday in September. It is a celebration of the world’s waterways with the purpose of highlighting the values of rivers, increasing public awareness, and encouraging the improved stewardship of rivers around the world.

21 September (the day before World Rivers Day) also marks the start of NZ Clean Up Week, where volunteers are encouraged to remove rubbish from their local awa, park, and green space.
