Asian Arts Festival

This weekend The Arts Centre Te Matatiki Toi Ora is hosting the Asian Arts Festival. The day will be a celebration of Asian arts and cultures, showcasing music, theatre, dance, a children’s fashion show, a talk show, workshops, food, an art market and cultural performances.

Celebrate our city’s Asian communities with this vibrant arts festival, on from 10am to 5pm Saturday.

Bookshop Detectives: Louise and Gareth Ward

Join the authors of cosy crime novel Bookshop Detectives to discuss their book, their colourful lives and bookselling. Louise and Gareth Ward met at police school and now own the beloved Havelock North bookshop Wardinis.

Cosy crime novel Bookshop Detectives follows two small-town booksellers as they solve a decades-old murder mystery. Listen to Louise and Gareth in conversation about their book at Tūranga on Sunday evening. Tickets are from $20. More information here.  

Ōtautahi Preloved Clothing Market

The Ōtautahi Preloved Clothing Market is back, with a new venue and all new stallholders. There will be 35+ stallholders selling their recently cleared-out wardrobes, including new and preloved clothing, shoes, handbags, accessories, jewellery, make up and beauty products.

Items for sale will mainly be womenswear, but there will also be a small selection of men’s and kid’s clothing. Head along to Mairehau High School from 10am to 2pm Saturday to check it out, $2 entry.

Scrabble Competition

Become the ultimate Scrabble champion at the Meepleopolis Scrabble Competition this Saturday evening. Get involved in three rounds of wordplay, all adhering to the Swiss format, with no elimination.

$5 entry fee with a minimum $5 food and drink purchase or $10 without, door sales only. Prizes include a deluxe edition of scrabble worth $180 and food and drink vouchers.

Fire & Spice Festival

Come along to Riverside Market for the ‘Fire & Spice’ Spicy Feastival which showcases spicy dishes around the market from mild to hot, hot, hot!
