Street Food Alley

Oxford Terrace will become a dynamic culinary scene this weekend with Foodies Street Food Alley. Head down from 4 – 10pm Friday and Saturday to check out a diverse array of Southeast Asian food vendors and to celebrate the diversity and creativity in our local community. Soak up the atmosphere and enjoy live entertainment as part of the event, all within an open-air space. More information here.

SailGP Watch Party Venues

The most exciting racing on water is coming back to Christchurch this weekend when SailGP returns on 23 and 24 March, and there’s plenty of venues across Christchurch and Banks Peninsula to catch the action. Grab your favourite snack and beverage and enjoy the excitement within the comforts of Riverside Markets with their 7-metre big screen TV. Experience SailGP on the big screen at Five Lanes at the BNZ Centre with outdoor seating, sunshade, steps to sit on and food from nearby restaurants. Head down to the central city Irish pub, Little Fiddle, who will be livestreaming the races on their six TVs, or Dux Central for indoor and outdoor spaces with local craft and international beers. Lyttelton locals can join in on the sailing fun at The Loons, SUPER or Eruption Brewery, and if you’re in Diamond Harbour, make sure to check out Two Thumb Brewing Co. Find more information about each of the watch party venues here.

Rainbow Ride 2024

Join fellow bikers and form a single rainbow ribbon riding through town in celebration of diversity, fitness, sustainability and our bike-friendly city. Groups of 6 – 10 riders dressed in each colour of the Progress Pride Flag will gather in groups to ride through the city and make a rainbow snake on bike. The Rainbow Ride 2024 will be on from 7.30 – 9am Saturday starting in Hagley Park. For more information and to register please email rainbowridechch@gmail.com.

Richmond Gala

Head over to Avebury House from 10am – 2pm Saturday for the Richmond Gala, a community event hosted by Richmond Community Garden, Avebury House and We Are Richmond. Visit the car boot sale in the Community Garden’s meadow, listen to live entertainment and buskers, look through food vendors and market stalls and get involved in the preserve’s competition. Avebury House is located at 9 Evelyn Couzins Avenue.

The Arts Centre Market

Come and experience the beauty of local, artisan-made goods and treasures at the Arts Centre Market from 10am – 3pm Sunday. Meet the makers and explore what our local craftspeople have to offer, with a range of delicious foods, treats and drinks, alongside vintage clothes, handmade products and unique arts and crafts. The market will be at The Arts Centre Te Matatiki Toi Ora, 2 Worcester Boulevard.
